The Goa born wing back has been the most consistant player for kerala blasters this season. His contributions to the team earned him a 3 year contract extention from his club.
Jessel made to the eleven because lalruathara was unfit after injury. He did well on his opportunity and eelco schattorie backed him. He along with Muhammed raokip were the constistant performer in blasters defense.
There wasn’t any set piece specialist in kerala blasters in previous season’s but they signed sergio codoncha as the specialist. Due to his inconstant performance blasters had to give the duty of set piece specialist to Jessel, he was a little shaky at start but eelco found his caliber and backed him again and Jessel has improved a lot. Even at the end of the season he was the set piece specialist along with Giani zuiverloon. He has also given many crosses to the front.
Blasters defence was extremely weak in this season. At first India’s best defender and Kerala blaster’s star player Sandesh jhingan
was ruled out and blasters had to sign Raju Gaikwad who was half unfit. Later a quality Brazilian defender was ruled out at the start of the season and blasters had to sign droberov as the replacment. Everbody’s expectations was on Gianni zuiverloon but he was also unfit and had to miss games.
All this forced young keralite Abdul Hakku to take the role as stopper back. And all this made blaster’s defense inexpirienced. But Jessel made a cut to the XI in all match
Jessel will have to work hard because Sandesh jhingan and Tiri will occupy the centre back role. And if the rumours are right then Nishu kumar will join blasters in next season and lalruathara who made a descent comeback from injury will give a fight to Jessel for the main eleven. Since Muhammed raokip has left the club, blasters wing backs will be safe with Jessel, lalruathara and Nishu kumar
